About AppleFriend

AppleFriend is a bit of a one-man show.

About Regis Laborie

regis-profile-pictureResearch, script, lights, decor, sound, filming, web design/coding and ‘acting’ are all performed by Regis Laborie from his home studio in Lake Oswego, OR.

Regis is a French-native (as you could tell from the funny accent…) and moved to the US in ’97. He particularly loves technology when it fosters human qualities such as creating or sharing, or simply betters our lives by furthering our discoveries and helping us keep in touch with our loved and geographically dispersed ones.

After meeting his American sweetheart (now wife) while she was visiting his college in France, Regis embraced Internet technology very early on as a necessity in order to communicate across the pond more efficiently and affordably and make the seven-year long-distance relationship viable.

Today, and now that he lives in the US, much improved technology and faster networks allow him to communicate via videoconference, photo-sharing and blog with his parents and sisters back in France.

Although he has nothing against Windows or Linux environments, Regis admittedly drinks from the Apple Kool-Aid. He likes their products because they are elegant in both design and simplicity, very carefully thought of, and mainly designed for all kind of ‘everyday’ people, not just technology-enclined ones. Being surrounded by those ‘everyday’ people, he often marvels at the potential that those products have unlocked for them.

    Hi Regis!

Interested in duplicating your iPhone costume project. Can you tell me how to view the video?

    Thanks!

    Jeff,

You just wrote the first comment on this blog. Congratulations! You are a little ahead of me. I’m making progress with the construction of the iPhone Halloween costume, and although I did not shoot a video for that one, I have taken lots of step-by-step pictures that I will start uploading today. Stay tuned, and thanks again!

Regis, that is quite a contribution to society that you are making! I am looking forward to the youtube video of the unveiling of the most expensive (considering your valuable time on top of goodies) i-phone ever!!!

    Hei hei,

Santa Fe is definitely iMac country, art is the BIG industry here. I am using one now and I love it – hard to describe but Apple is so much more warm & friendly than MS, especially for graphics stuff – do you remember when SLB/Omnes took away our Mac’s and gave us PC’s? I recall there was a lot of mourning and gnashing of teeth over this from the smart people.
Might be an idea to run a little ad about applefriend in the local media here – there are over 300 art galleries and almost all are using iMacs, but maybe are not getting the most out of them. There is a really interesting application in iPhoto that produces coffee table photo books but could use some help — Great pic of you and little Audrey.

    A beintot,

    Peter

    Hello Redgeo !
